BEHIND THE SCORE: Impact

I met this person a few years ago at a friend’s gathering.
We hit it off right away, it felt like love at first sight.
We instantly became best friends.

Back then, I struggled with my self-image.
I had little confidence, and I often mistook kindness for something more.
And with them, I fell hard.

There was a warmth in the way they saw me.
A softness in how they treated me.
I hadn’t felt anything like it before.

Eventually, I shared what I was feeling.
But the feelings weren’t mutual.
It hurt, but I accepted it, and we went back to being friends.

Still, I stayed in this quiet place of hope
that maybe one day, they’d feel the same.

But they didn’t.
And that was a hard truth to swallow.

We took a break.
Time apart was painful but necessary.

And somewhere in that space, something shifted in me.
I realized: their happiness is more important to me than my expectation.
Even if that joy comes from someone else.

Our friendship, their presence, their impact
it’s all made my life feel more rich, more colorful, more alive.
And for that, I’m deeply grateful.

This symphony is my tribute.
My way of saying what I couldn't say out loud.
A full expression of love, growth, and letting go.
